Magnat OMEGA CS 12 BLACK – Refined deep bass range and performance
There is no substitute for bass. except of course more bass. And, if in doubt, an even deeper bass. This applies to both stereo systems and a home theater setup. Even high-end speakers benefit from being able to delegate the reproduction of lower frequencies to an active subwoofer. Because then they can be concentrated on all the other components of the respective music.
To achieve this, an active subwoofer needs a large cone surface area to be able to make the air vibrate sufficiently, as well as a strong driving force in the form of an amplifier. We provide the Omega CS 12 with all these components to be able to reproduce the best and most accurate bass range in all types of systems. After all, accuracy is essential, especially in the lower frequency range. When this is achieved, the high wave frequencies become the desired sound instead of an inaccurate noise.
MAGNAT OMEGA CS 12 – MAXIMUM BASS
12 inches, or 300mm, is the measure of all things when it comes to the Omega CS 12. The hardened and specially coated double cone configuration is optimized for use in the subsonic frequency range. The connection to the longthrow surround, which centers the cone, is provided by a glued and double-stitched construction. The movement, which is a massive 170mm magnetic ring, has been optimized using Klippel’s tried and tested laser measurement technology. The high-performance voice coil, which is also huge at 75mm, is vented to prevent compression effects, i.e. “air stagnation”. A cast aluminum speaker basket completes the impeccable impression of the components used.
POWER WITHOUT END
The “active” element in the active subwoofer naturally comes from the built-in amplifier. And what an amp this is. A high-performance Class-D amplifier combines maximum efficiency with optimal performance. It delivers an impressive 525 watts of continuous power and a maximum power of up to 1100 watts. The volume can be changed on the subwoofer itself as well as via a remote control. So you can easily adjust the volume of the music/movie you’re listening to or “get loose with your neighbors” with a flick of your wrist.
For a perfect connection to the main speakers, the crossover frequency can be adjusted between 50 and 150 Hz and the phase can also be varied between 0 and 180°, which results in a seamless transition. The particularly relevant frequency range of around 35 Hz can be increased by up to 6 dB via the “Bass Extension” function.
WHETHER YOU HAVE A HI-FI OR HOME CINEMA SETUP – A SUBWOOFER ALWAYS HELPS
Active subwoofers are something of a universal genius. They help achieve optimal sound in both stereo systems and home cinema systems. When it comes to more compact main speakers, be it bookshelf speakers or a surround system, a subwoofer is almost essential. The relatively small cones used by the speakers are then relieved of the physically difficult task of reproducing the lower frequencies and can operate with a much greater degree of freedom. This also applies to larger floorstanding speakers, however. Active subwoofers like Magnat’s Omega CS 12 are perfectly optimized for their ability to reproduce the lowest frequencies. The extremely powerful built-in amplifier is of course also a specialist in this job. In addition to its output, it is the built-in DSP that primarily allows for optimal connection to existing speakers and room acoustics.
For specific home theater systems, it may make sense to use not just one, but two or more active subwoofers. This is due to the extremely demanding task of reproducing the recorded bass levels for film sound, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, the fact that the bass range appears even more harmonious if the room is excited in several locations. This avoids standing waves and thus annoying cancellations and/or excessive levels in the frequency response.
INDIFFERENT WITH PERFECT CONSTRUCTION
We’ve packed the maximum cone surface into a sleek, closed housing that also looks good in a living room setting. With dimensions of 385 and 400 mm, the diaphragm is hardly any larger than a real woofer. We only allowed space for a solid MDF enclosure to prevent the high level of accuracy from being distorted by an unstable exterior.
