The Abyss 8’s small yet powerful Hybrid Woofer System is capable of handling large amounts of power. MartinLogan’s advanced Magnitude MT-1kW amplifier delivers up to 1000W of peak power (500W RMS), ensuring stunning performance and impeccable musicality. Magnitude amplifiers are designed to deliver their power with extremely low distortion, ensuring maximum fidelity along with high performance capability. Providing exceptional control over the long, narrow 8” Hybrid Woofer System, the MT-1kW amplifier helps the Abyss 8 deliver an immersive audio experience from an ultra-compact subwoofer.
Advanced Vojtko DSP Engine: Elevating Subwoofer Performance
Abyss subwoofers utilize the advanced, ultra-high-resolution Vojtko DSP engine, named after MartinLogan’s Chief Audio Technologist. The 500MHz DSP engine with 64-bit processing is the conductor, controlling all aspects of the subwoofer’s performance in real time. This computing power allows MartinLogan engineers to optimize performance for maximum efficiency and fidelity with complete sonic transparency, while enabling advanced features such as wireless app control, built-in wireless signal linking and other advanced DSP functions. Thanks to the computing power of this highly advanced DSP engine, Abyss subwoofers are also compatible with the award-winning Anthem Room Correction (ARC®) system.

Excellent Construction
Cabinet construction plays a critical role in the sound quality of a speaker. Abyss subwoofer cabinets are constructed from 1” MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) with additional reinforcement at the woofer bases and center reinforcement. This robust construction provides a more stable base for the high-performance woofer, resulting in cleaner and more defined bass.

In addition to built-in wireless connectivity, the Abyss 8 offers exceptional wired installation flexibility. With RCA and XLR LFE inputs, Stereo RCA inputs, Speaker Level inputs and Sub Out, the Abyss 8 can be easily integrated into even the most complex systems. Simultaneous connections are also supported.

As a less intrusive alternative to room acoustic treatments, the Abyss 8’s built-in anti-vibration mounts can also help reduce noise complaints by reducing vibration transmission to adjacent rooms. Out of the box, the Abyss 8’s anti-vibration mounts are safe for all floor types, with optional spikes included to improve performance on carpeted floors.
