Cabinet: The ES-28N cabinet is slightly angled for improved driver alignment. It is constructed from a sandwich panel with a high-damping layer between two MDF panels, offering increased rigidity and reduced color distortion. The front plate is 50mm thick, consisting of two 10mm sandwich panels and a separate 30mm MDF chamber panel. The midrange driver chamber has a triangular back to prevent internal reflections, while the remaining space behind the tweeter houses the crossover, protecting the components from high sound pressure levels. The bass reflex tube is located at the bottom, allowing the use of an 8cm diameter tube with a length that minimizes unwanted resonant frequencies. In addition, the tube has pressure equalization holes to prevent resonance of the tube itself.
Crossover: The ES-28N uses second-order LKR filters at 330 Hz and fourth-order LKR filters at 2700 Hz, ensuring smooth transitions between drivers and optimal performance across the entire frequency range.
Impedance and Distortion: The speaker has an average impedance of over 6 Ohms, with a minimum value of 3.9 Ohms at 16kHz. Distortion (THD) is kept below 0.2% on average, at sound pressure levels of 86dB between 100Hz and 10,000Hz, ensuring clear and accurate sound.
Bass Driver: The ES-28N features two high-power 7-inch woofers with a 36mm voice coil diameter. They utilize a hybrid ferrite and neodymium magnet, with a straight injection-molded mica cone and a low-latency rubber surround, delivering fast and powerful low-frequency response.
Midrange Driver: The midrange driver is 5.25 inches (130mm) with a 30mm voice coil diameter, dual ferrite magnet and a polypropylene cone with mica. The surround is made of low-hysteresis rubber, ensuring linear suspension and good control in high excursions, offering a clean and natural performance in the midrange frequencies.
Tweeter: The tweeter is 28mm with an aluminum alloy dome and ceramic coating, without the use of ferrofluid in the gap, maintaining a constant temperature and low compression. It features a strong ferrite magnet and optimized airflow between the chambers, offering detailed and accurate performance in high frequencies.
